Coaching—Mentoring—Consulting Dr. Goodall has spent thousands of hours in counseling and coaching leaders, pastors, and those who are desirous of un-biased, ethical, coaching. As a certified coach he frequently advises church leaders on organizational changes or structures that churches are concerned about. He is often asked by congregations to assist them in the unique challenges of selecting a pastor, transitioning churches or Christian organizations, organizational structure, staff selection and strategies for growth. Coaching focuses on assisting a person in determining what they feel are the right decisions about their particular occupation or life journey. Coaching is not necessarily counseling, but does counsel—in brief windows throughout the coaching relationship. Coaching will assist the individual in finding balance, determine the right decisions, and it will provide a listening ear to leaders who seldom have a person who can listen without bias (with confidentiality). Coaching is a process and not a one time conversation. Dr. Goodall believes that a good coach needs to be a player/coach, i.e., having experience in the area that the client is interested in. Life brings unique challenges to us. Many of these experiences involve areas where we do not have a lot of experience, or for a period of time, we feel inadequate in our managing this experience or challenge.
